Résumé : This thesis presents an application of Control Theory for Computing Systems. The mathematical framework provided by control theory is used in order to improve automation and robustness of computing systems. Moreover, the specific challenges of such use cases enable to expand the control theory itself.
The research is focused on two complementary applications:
1) Automatic configuration of Location Privacy Protection Mechanisms to guarantee privacy and utility objectives. The main contribution relies on the novel problem formulation, modeling and control are also developed.
2) Performance and availability guarantee in Big Data cloud services. State of the art control techniques are developed to ensure robustness and cost-efficiency.
Both applications are designed and validated on real-life experimental data and facilities.
